A. St. John County. County Seat --Saint John City

Figure 8 outlines the present parishes of this county: (1) City of Saint John, (2) St. Martins, (3) Simonds and (4) Musquash

Changes incurred since its formation are as follows:

1786
Parishes of Portland, St.Martins, Lancaster and Saint John City were estblished.
1837
A portion of St. Martins became Alma Parish, Albert County.
1839
The Parish of Simonds was derived from Portland Parish
1877
Musquash Parish was form part of Lancaster
1889
Portland Parish became part of the City of Saint John
1967
Lancaster Parish was incorporated into the City of Saint John

 

B. Westmoreland County. County Seat -- Dorchester.

The current parish of this county are outlined by Fig. 9. They are: (1) Westmoreland, (2) Sackville, (3) Moncton, (4) Dorchester, (5) Salisbury, (6), Botsford and (7) Shediac.

Changes throughout the years:

1786
Parishes of Dorchester, Sackville, Hopewell, Hillsborough and Moncton were established
1787
Parishes of Dorchester and Salisbury were formed
1805
Botsford was carved out of Sackvile Parish
1827
Parts of the Parishes of Dorchester, Sackville and Westmoreland were taken to create the Parish of Shediac.
1835
Part of Dorchester became the Parish of Moncton
1845
The Parishes of Hopewell and Hillsborough became parishes in the new County of Albert.

 

C. Kings County. County Seat - Hampton

Present parishes: (1) Westfield, (2) Sussex, (3) Springfield, (4) Kingston, (5) Norton, (6) Greenwich, (7) Hampton, (8) Upham, (9) Studholm, (10) Havelock, (11) Hammond, (12) Kars, (13) Rothesay, (14) Cardwell and (15) Waterford. (Fig. 10)

Changes since it's formation:

Establishment of Parishes of Westfield, Sussex, Springfield, and Kingston
1795
The Parishes of Norton and Hampton were formed from portions of Sussex and Kingston
1835
Hampton Parish was divided to create Upham
1840
Part of the Parish of Sussex became Studholm. Hammond Parish was created from Studholm
1858
Havelock Parish was created from a portion of Upham
1859
The parish of Kingston yielded territory to create Kars
1870
Rothesay Parish was set off from Hampton
1874
Parts of Sussex became Parishes of Cardwell and Waterford.
