For many Palmatier/Palamteer family members, their ancestry can be traced back to one one; Pierre Parmentier. Pierre was born in 1630, in Courtrai Belgium. Which at that time was a part of France. Pierre, his wife Antoinette Terrin and their young son, Michael, fled with fellow Huguenots To Mannheim, Germany to escape Catholic persecution. 20 April 1663, the family arrived in present day Brooklyn, on a ship named "De Bonte Koe" 1670 - Pierre was a trustee of Bedford (now Brooklyn) 1671 - was an overseer of Brooklyn Pierre Parmentier had a mill and sold grain to early settlers. Inventories showed Pierre's live stock diminish as his son, Michael Parmentier took over the property. Pierre was born of a family upon whom Charles V had conferred the priviledge of nobility in the 16th century. Orginally the Parmentier family lived in Mignault (village near Mons, Belguim) There are 8 coat of arms for the Parmentier family. It is believed the coat of arms from Flanders may belong to our line of Parmentier family. Antoinette Terrin's family was Thonnet Terrin who was born about 1600
